The traveling exhibit, Inner Strength: Portraits of Basque Immigrant Women combines the artistry of black and white environmental photographs of 41 women of various ages by Peter Oberlindacher with excerpts of stories as told by the women who came to the West from their homeland in the Basque Country in Spain and France. The character, fortitude and dignity of these women is demonstrated through the use of light and natural interior and exterior backgrounds. Excerpts of their stories, recorded during interviews with Begoña Pecharroman, include themes of work, political oppression, and life in their homeland as well as immigration and integration into society in their new home.
Inner Strength is available to travel to institutions or events, please contact the Museum for more information.
