What Food Tells Us About A Culture: The Role of Food in the Basque Society
Can food define a Country? Can food define a people? Food is considered an identity marker as well as a hallmark of tradition in the Basque Country. This presentation will focus on the role of food in the construction of identities and stereotypes in Basque culture. The course will offer a sociological view of Basque traditional culture and its evolution into the twenty-first century as related to cooking, eating, and drinking.
