We are excited to offer this special 1st Thursday Presentation on March 7th, starting at 6:45 PM.
Join Ray Mansisidor, WWII Veteran, pilot and accordionist, as he joins his friends in a presentation entitled, “Music and Military Campaigns over the Past Century.”
Music for the troops and for the country has been such an important part of the history of the military. The group plans to provide you with a look back at some of the music that has continued to fill our lives and often has an emotional impact on us – taking us back to an event or place when we first heard it. Jack Donohue, a masterful accordionist, now an Idaho resident originally from the east coast, is sure to captivate the crowd with his renditions of popular songs associated with military campaigns over the past 100 years. Ray Mansisidor, who is of Basque decent, will lead a group of local musicians and friends, in playing some ethnic songs associated with those eras.
The Basque Museum’s exhibit on Basques in the Military entitled, Abertzaleak-Patriots: Sacrifice and Honor will close on April 6, 2019. Take this opportunity to read the stories and see the faces of Basques who fought or served both in the Basque Country and those who fought or served in their new home, the United States, in various capacities and campaigns in the military. At 6:45 p.m. – enjoy listening to music presented by local musicians as they look back at music associated with the military over the past one hundred years.
This event is free and open to the public.
